From the page: “Millions of young people could damage their future careers with the details about themselves they post on social networking websites, a watchdog warns.

The Information Commissioner’s Office found more than half of those asked made most of their information public.

Some 71% of 2,000 14 to 21-year-olds said they would not want colleges or employers to do a web search on them before they had removed some material.

The commission said the young needed to be aware of their electronic footprint.”

BBC NEWS | UK | Mother can keep birth a secret

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk/7109774.stm

From the page: “A woman who became pregnant after a one-night stand has been given the right to keep the birth a secret from the father.

The Court of Appeal ruling came after a county court ordered the 20-year-old to tell both her parents and the father.

The three appeal judges agreed “the ultimate veto” over who is told about the birth lay with the mother.

Fathers’ groups said the ruling treated the child as the property of the mother “to be disposed of as she sees fit”.”

I’m really not sure how I feel about this, on one hand I feel it’s a matter of choice, but on the other, I know as a father I should need to know.

From the page: “A 15-YEAR-old girl was put in a Brazilian jail cell with more than 20 men, and for a month was raped relentlessly and forced to have sex for food, human rights groups say.

“She was raped from day one” at the jail in Para state, a Children and Adolescent Defence Centre (Cedeca) spokeswoman said.

The number of men in the cell varied from 20 to 34 while the girl, a robbery suspect, was there.”
